Stone tile installations can be intricately details, such as the fine work in the photograph, or can utilize much larger tiles in a straight laid, diagonal, or brick pattern: all choices can turn out beautiful when properly installed
What materials do I need to install stone tile?
Stone tile can be installed with specialty stone adhesives that have a strong grip and do not stain the stone, or with conventional mortars, referred to as thin-set mortar. These products are always available where you buy stone tile, and come with easy to follow instructions for mixing and/or application techniques.
All stone is porous, and requires a sealer to protect its beauty. More porous stones, such as travertine, require a more penetrating sealer, and may require more than one application for full protection. These sealers are also available wherever the adhesives and thin-set mortars are sold.
